active duty

All service branches maintain physical readiness standards, tested in a Physical Readiness Test (PRT).  The three-event exam is used to measure strength, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness.  The three events are push-ups, sit-ups, and a run.  Standards are separated by gender and age.

Coach Harboe will work within unit PRT training schedules, adding elements that complement each participant’s individual training program by incorporating specific training to strengthen running weaknesses.

All PRT training will focus on intensity (resistance and pace), volume (number of sets and repetitions), duration (time), and recovery.

Goals for each Active Duty client:

  • decrease PRT run time while improving fitness for longer unit runs
  • improve endurance with easy-pace longer distance runs
  • increase stamina capacity for longer unit runs
  • increase speed capacity for PRT run distance
  • improve capability to run hard when fatigued
  • increase mental confidence in running abilities
